Sanso Smart climate

Sanso Smart Climate is a mutual fund that aims to outperform the MSCI World Index Euro, dividends reinvested, over a minimum five-year investment horizon.

Investment strategy

The fund implements a stock selection strategy focused on reducing the various risks associated with climate change and how companies manage these risks.

Portfolio construction

Portfolio construction is carried out in several steps:

Step 1: ESG screening

Within the universe, the first step of the process implements an ESG foundation comprising:

  • Sectoral exclusions (tobacco, coal, controversial weapons)
  • Normative exclusions aimed at excluding companies involved in serious and repeated controversies related to the United Nations Global Compact
  • A Best-in-Class ESG selection excluding at least 20% of the starting universe, in line with a so-called “significantly engaging” approach. At least 90% of the equity capitalization of the portfolio is subject to ESG analysis

Step 2: Climate change risk assessment

The next step in the process aims to ensure that the fund:

  • Has an exposure to the various climate change risks identified by the TCFD (Task Force on Climate Related Financial Disclosure) significantly lower than the MSCI World*.
  • Is exposed to companies that, on average, have better management of these risks than their peers.

Step 3: Portfolio optimization

Finally, management makes adjustments so that the fund has characteristics close to those of the MSCI World in terms of exposure: sectoral, regional and by currency, by capitalization size, to different investment styles.
